Revenue Strategy Forum Hong Kong
Building on the success of the past two forums, Hotel ICON, hospitality innovation thought leader together with Duetto organized the third annual Revenue Strategy Forum Hong Kong in 11th October 2017 to prepare hoteliers for the next wave of challenges around travel distribution in a volatile competitive landscape.
With hotels challenged by the continued growth of third-party intermediaries and the further commoditization of the industry, over 150 DORMs, sales and marketing leaders, owners and technology providers gathered at Hotel ICON to discuss ways hotels could optimise their pricing and distribution to tackle distribution complexities and to achieve top-and bottom-line growth.
Wrapping up the third annual RSF forum, the two key takeaways include first, to have a holistic hotel revenue strategy aligning the roles of Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management. Second, as new data becomes available and integrated into revenue management technology, marketers should explore strategically targeting guests with personalised pricing and customer experiences.

Industry developments including the consolidation of OTAs, the blurring of lines between online distributors and metasearch players have made it more difficult for hoteliers to tackle distribution complexities. “As guest acquisition costs continue to rise, driving direct bookings and personalising guest experiences become a bigger priority,” said Richard Hatter, General Manager of Hotel ICON.
According to Patrick Bosworth, co-founder and CEO of Duetto, “Entering its third year in Asia, RSF has quickly become a critical program to generate new ideas and approaches to shape the future of hospitality. We are excited to expand this forum to bring even more innovation forward and develop new revenue strategies alongside hotel owners, asset managers and brands”. |
Event highlights included: A conversation with Stowe Shoemaker, Dean William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Richard Hatter, General Manager of Hotel ICON: Two of the world’s leading Revenue Strategy academics discussed the evolution of the practice, and what traits to look for in a revenue manager.
