Tasked as a teaching and research hotel, Hotel ICON has progressed to become an innovation thought leader experimenting with artificial intelligence and automation for the hospitality industry. The ‘live hotel lab’ has been testing Jeeves, a new autonomous delivery robot by Konica Minolta, and the Intellibot vacuum robot by Diversey, a provider of smart and sustainable cleaning solutions.

2017 PATA GRAND AWARD

Hotel ICON, the innovation thought leader in hospitality management made history last year by being the first Hong Kong-based hotel to be awarded with the PATA Gold Award for Marketing. This year’s win of the PATA Grand Award for Education and Training for its ‘Being Brilliant Together’ initiative marks another company milestone for the independent hotel, which is wholly owned by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and an extension of the university’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management.

As part of its mission to showcase iconic artists and designers, Hong Kong’s celebrated Hotel Icon unveiled a suite specially created by fashion designer Vivienne Tam, an alumnus of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), which owns Hotel Icon. The collaboration represents a homecoming of sorts for the New York-based designer whose brand of “China chic” is renowned worldwide.
